I just finished painting my mother's hope chest that was given to me. I had difficulty getting all the vaneer glue off. I tried several products to get the glue off but I became impatient and just decided I'd had enough and painted over a lot of it. It looks good if you don't look too closely at it.

It looks so good! Did you make the pillow top too? I have a cedar chest and would love to do something similar.
