I visited with a friend tonight that is single. After talking with her about guy drama, I came home to my sweet husband doing the dinner dishes. I just laid a big one on him. I'm so happy to be past the dating scene and married. I couldn't have found a more perfect man for me. How am I so lucky??? There are so many amazing single woman I know and they just keep plugging along in life. I hope for each of them that they find someone to be madly in love with and who is madly in love with them. I love you Dan! (I hope you still love me after beating you in Scrabble tonight?!!!)

Draperies
I finally finished sewing my draperies for our bedroom. Before we could hang them we wanted to paint our room. We were too tired to paint our whole room so we just painted the wall the draperies were going to be hung on. We painted most of the wall. We have vaulted ceiling and no ladder so we just painted to where our arms reached, we'll finish it another day. I just wanted to get my draperies hung. Dan was so kind and moved the existing rod up higher for my tall draperies. I am still working on "fluffing" the drapes to get them to hang right and look good. Here's some photos of my mostly finished project.

High Chair Drop Cloth
I needed a solution to food all over my floors around Jacob's high chair. I decided that I would make a drop cloth that would be easy to wipe up dropped food. I found some clear vinyl in a remnant bin and some cheap flannel. I sewed them together, turned them right side out, and edge stitched around the edge. I had Jake test it tonight and it caught most of the food just one little piece landed off the drop cloth.

Blueberry Turnover
I still had fresh blueberries from last Sunday in my frig so I pulled out one of my many cookbooks and found a yummy Blueberry Turnover recipe. I love cookbooks with pictures. I read them as if they are novels. This recipe came from the William and Sonoma Dessert Cookbook that Dan gave me for Christmas last year.

Birthday Fabric
This afternoon I met my mom at Designers Resource, The Design Co, on 2253 South 500 East in SLC for their stepdown fabric sale. They do this sale twice a year. Every week the prices go from high to low prices per yard. The fabric options are hit and miss. This week was $2 a yard. My parents treated me to yards and yards of fabric for my birthday and I found so many fabulous fabric prints. I can't wait to make curtains, hot pads, placemats, bags, stuff, stuff, stuff!!! So fun!
Cedar Chest
I just finished painting my mother's hope chest that was given to me. I had difficulty getting all the vaneer glue off. I tried several products to get the glue off but I became impatient and just decided I'd had enough and painted over a lot of it. It looks good if you don't look too closely at it.

Food Storage
We recently went to a ward activity where we brought our own food to be canned. We did Spaghetti, Flour, Wheat, Sugar, and Milk. We found out that you can check-out canners and do canning at home. We decided that we needed more so about two months ago I called the LDS Cannery to rent a canner. They told me the waiting list was about two months out. My sister and I have been collecting items to can over the two months. I bought Oats, Rice, Potato Pearls, Salt, Sugar and Milk. Yesterday was the day and we canned for about two hours. It was very satisifying to know we were better prepared to feed our families if some hardship or disaster happens.

Fresh Corn on the Cob
One of my favorite foods to eat during the summer is fresh corn on the cob. We are lucky to live in Draper because there are several corn fields here. Our favorite place to get fresh corn is the Rasmussen Farm. They grow the biggest, sweetest, tastiest corn. Dan and I pick up corn several times a week. The other night we just ate corn for dinner. So delicious!
